Pon. As usual, humans are the real trash. I fucking love this show. You sold super sentai to me as being about having faith in your friends and stuff, but this is relentlessly misanthropic.
Oto. Episode 21 is everything I had hoped it would be. I hate when bad guys are all, “Humans are bad!” But their solution to this is just to kill all the humans. You think you’re better than us? I’m not buying it if all you have to offer is mass genocide.
Pon. I dunno man. The show makes a compelling case against humanity. Fuck us. We’re shit. I think that scene with the skeleton in the car is gonna haunt my dreams, though.
Jesus H. Christ. Wholesome afterschool entertainment!
Oto. Well, if they don’t sugar coat it and have people actually dying when a horrible monster attacks the city, as they would, then that acclimates these kids to the concept of death. If it’s a part of their lives from a young age, maybe they won’t be so afraid of it.
Pon. I mean, I don’t disagree with you. I’m not sure that an attitude of honesty and respect toward death necessitates a fucking steaming corpse, though.
Oto. Everything this show does to sell Ryu/Kaori, and Gai’s scenes where he’s all pissed off, just makes me think that even they want Ryu/Gai.
Pon. Yeah … really, Kaori is the most well-adjusted person here by far. She isn’t accosting people on elevators or obsessing over her awesome dead robot-punching love. She just likes a dude. I’m with you re: Ryu/Gai, though. That’s where the ship magic in this show happens.
Oto. Not sure why Raita is getting involved. Seems a little shoehorned in. Also, I’ve said this before, but I guess he’s completely forgotten about childhood friend lady.
Pon. Raita’s not particular. He’ll take what he can get.
